What is Compliance and how much does it cost ?
Before an imported vehicle can be registered for use on Australian roads, the Government requires that it be modified to meet applicable Australian Design Rules (ADRs) of the year of manufacture.
This is necessary because ADR's are generally more stringent than other countries.
Such modifications include changes to seatbelts, mirrors, side-intrusion bars on some models, catalytic converters, tyres etc. They vary depending on the year, make and model.
For full details on the Import Regulations, please see:
Importing Regulations
Compliance under SEVS (the new import scheme) must be undertaken by a workshop approved to make the changes and to affix a compliance plate to the vehicle. Once complete, the vehicle can then be registered for road use in the normal way.

We have many compliance contacts and can usually provide a recommendation for your area for a reliable workshop that offers the best price. In many cases, our customers are able to access trade prices for compliance which are otherwise not available to the public, which offers a significant cost saving.
